12/26/11 - Northshore Honey Hole
Amazing how much bonus fishing time we are getting this year. Got out with Vinny on his B-Day for a little post Christmas fishing (11:30am-2:15p). Sun was bright, and the wind was stiff, but calmed about a half hour in. There was a sheet of thin ice on the back shallow half of the lake, and our areas we've had luck at recently had like an algae bloom/decaying plant green muck thing going on. With about an hour an half left we moved on to a few spots Vin had scoped out that had a little deeper water that looked better as well. I get a follower pickerel, and a follower Bass on back to back cast. 1st fish of the day goes to Vin, ends up getting the Pickerel to bite. I pitch my jig out while Vinny set up his phone camera for me to take a picture. Right when he goes to hand me the phone I feel...tap, tap...and say "Hold on a Sec!", hammer a hook set, and land what would be my biggest fish of the day, beauty of a Largemouth 2lb 10oz. Vin follows that up a 1-1/4lber Largemouth. Im next with a 1lb 7oz Largemouth. Vin's next with a 1lb 5oz Largemouth from a spot a little down from where we started. Get to the last spot we would fish today. I tuck myself in behind some brush so I can flip the wood, and Pick-up a chunky 1lber. Vin get the Last caught of the day, beating my big one by a single ounce. A sweet 2lb 11oz Largemouth for the B-day boy. And with that we called it a day, and having a better outing than some summer days left has with big smiles for sure.
nice work
If I ever find this "Honey hole" I'm JUMPING IN THE WATER FEET FIRST hahahahahahaha all signs point to a very very small puddle like pond in the median strip of a major highway haahahahaha
AWESOME DETAILZ as usual...all the ponds I scoped christmas day all over Sutton were slushy topped !
