April Bassin
Another day on the water with my buddy Scott.Sunny and warm with wind from 7 to 15.Air temp started at 50 then got to about 70 or so.Don't know what the water temp.was.We started about six or so,got onto some baitfish right away and Scott pulled one in.I had a few bites but missed them.We kept cruising the shoreline to find bigger fish then I hooked into a 3 and half. They were spotty so we kept moving. The wind picked up and we blew down the shoreline, then tucked into a shallow cove and Scott picked a 2 and a half.Threw out deeper and hooked up,fish on,then it came off.Lost about 8 or more fish today after hook up and drag pull. They felt like good fish too.Best five of the day,3.72,1.80,2.44,3.32,2.24.Total weight,13.55 pounds.
Funny this is one of the ponds that I used to frequent. My buddy lives right by it. He mentioned yesterday that there were plenty of boats in as well as launching as he drove by.
It is unfortunate that the once mighty Rez is on a down swing with all the pressure it gets the low water and the dragging of the feet to fix the dam.
I fear it could be a death nail to it for good if we get any type of sustained drought during the hot summer.
What type of pattern were you fishing? Shallows or flats? Lures like crank baits or jigs?
nice fish btw, solid day!
