Lunker On The Lake

After a long afternoon of nothing I returned to Crystal lake to give it another go at 8pm. After about an hr. of nothing I decided it was time to give it one more cast and call it quits. I wish I had my $&*T together because A) I had no real camera, B) No measuring tape, C) No batteries for the scale, and D) No flashlight/lantern. However I liked the cast and sure enough got a huge hit out of it, strong fight with quite a few attempts at jumping, and once on shore I went to lift the line and the line snapped. This was the biggest fish Ive seen out of my favorite spot to date! I used my foot (size 12) to measure out 24inches and looked online as to what a healthy 24inch largemouth should weigh and a site came up with 8-8.5lbs so any guesses there would be greatly appreciated. While releasing the fish also got a good bounce and snagged me with the second treble and did some good wigglying causing me a good amount of pain haha, but well worth it! Cant wait to head back.

Comments

  • I have not caught any monster, monster bass here, but I have caught plenty in the 12-16 inch range, especially at night!

  • Big fish no doub.t but it's hard to tell without a girth measument. Girth is where it's at. I have seen up to a 3lb difference in fish of the same lenth because of a big difference in Girth. Tip: always carry one of those soft cloth tape measures, like a tailor has, with you. You can get a lenth and girth and have a much better idea of a fishes weight. No matter what the girth, a 24' bass is BIG!! Congrats
