My third time going to the canal the first two times.i went out i had no odea what i was doing i went with a nine foot rod the line was soo okd i could only cast 20 feet in front of me. But anyways 11 foot rods 50 pound braid with 50 lb florocarbon leaders using bucktails with 9 inch rubbers on them ranging from 2to5 onces in weight arrived at the canal at 930pm beautiful night the canal was slack we started on our bikes on the path stoppin along the way taking casts jigging the bottom and drifting the bucktails i kept getting stuck and losing jiggs just trying to feel the canal out it is quite tricky hours pass we keep goinh along the canal stopping and going we finally reach one of my buddu favorote spots its around 230am my buddy finally hooks into one i reeled my rod up and helped.him land it the striper had to be at least 34 inches the first one i had ever seen up close he was extatic fish for a lil wile longer no luck. I just lost more jigs go back to the truck at like 4am packed the stuff up and headed to another spot bout a half hour from the canal my buddy was determined to get me a fish got there just as day broke walked on the beach i put a plug on and it was on like donkey kong whipped it out there started reeling and jerkiing my.lure frantically and about half way through my reel in bam nice blue jumped a.couple timeswata good show i caught a couple more by then it was almost 6am we.were beat time to go home nd stay awake while driving
