lilpixiblue Was the only one on Crane Beach who caught. Cropped objects may appear larger than they are. It was around a 2 ft'er. Just shy of keeper but gave me a hell of a fight on light spinning tackle.

scoobystas Yes, those guys will pull hard and take drag on medium bass tackle all day.
lilpixiblue Oh yeah, the drag was smoking away with that lovely zipping sound (music to my ears). How I knew it was a Striper. It was awesome. Dozens of beach goers crowded me. Lol

lilpixiblue It was funny, I was up in Maine a month ago using that exact rig-Spro (I think) bucktail baited with pearl gulp mullet, for flounder with a chance of Striper, just prospecting. When I got home and read an article that it was the ideal set up for the early-season Striper gorging on baitfish and too picky to hit topwater, as the poor guy next to me was finding out.
Happy I got re-spooled with no less than 20lb fluoro Vanish yesterday, and that was still pretty light tackle for this little guy. I also keep a good amount of drag set so the fish doesn't bounce of the hook. We all know that's the worst. So it was wild till I got my bearings and tightened the drag.
